Wari-kusabi bench
This bench is inspired by Karimoku case study CT01 table, which I have adapted to a bench. The design reminds us of Japanese zen and traditional joinery. The main joint used in crafting this bench is the wari-kusabi (wedged mortise and tenon). The materials used for this bench are European oak and walnut, the legs are quarter sawn which give the unique white vains that shimmer in the light.

How its made
This bench was made fully with handtools after planing the rough oak boards and sawing them to size. Japanese saws and chisels to make the mortise and tenon joints. This was performed with utmost precision, so you cant see a gap between the mortise and tenon.
